Warning: there are no beautiful, golden, sandy beaches on the Sorrento Peninsula. If you’re looking for beaches, you are in the wrong place. However, if you are looking for a dip in the sea after a long day exploring, there are plenty of options. If you’re a particular fan of busy, small, rocky beach clubs, then you’re in for a treat.
The entire peninsula is surrounded by beach clubs, which are basically hundreds of sun loungers next to the sea. There are some luxury ones, with a price tag to match, and there are some public beaches where you can technically sit for free but you’ll be much more comfortable with a sun lounger. Most, however, are privately run and require that you hire a sun lounger. Some are exposed to the sun all day, some are lodged between cliffs and so the sun disappears quite early. With so many options, we hope that you find the following guide useful:
The most Exclusive Beach
- Maya Beach Experience, Massa Lubrense. Cool, young vibe with music and cocktails. The place to be if you’re young. highly instagrammable.
The Most Natural and Secluded Beach
- Baia di Ieranto, – you have to walk for a good 45 minutes to get to this beach, which means there are less people there but it is still busy in summer. It’s really beautiful and worth getting up early to enjoy it whilst it’s still quiet.
The Best for Families
- Puolo Beach, Massa Lubrense – all the beaches are busy and family friendly but we like going with our kids to Puolo Beach because there’s a bit of sand (not much) and clear, shallow water.
